This sweet thing is really finding an ADORABLE personality! Throughout the session lil S kept making these silly faces. Its one of those things that happens on occasion and even though the parents undoubtedly ask themselves ~ what the heck is that face?!? As a photographer and innocent bystander ~ i love them. They’re just those silly expressions that only last a moment in life. It’s a rare chance that i get to capture something so very precious.

As the mama of a little girl ~ i couldn’t help but gravitate to this sweet face. The wear & tear after one of the HOTTEST (if not the hottest) day in Virginia) was certainly taking its toll. Thankfully we got out early in the morning, and i have to say…really enjoyed the day.

Robin & Jason had an extraordinary day. After having gotten all of the rain out during their engagement session (and i do mean ALL the rain) their wedding day was picture perfect. They welcomed the colors of tropical islands and big smiles and created a wedding that was truly theirs. Cupcakes, their music, dancing, and did i mention laughter ~ all went into a great BIG day. To say this mama has a perfect belly could be an understatement. Of course every belly that sustains and grows life is perfect in each and every unique way, but dude ~ this is the stock photo beautiful belly-ness. Hee – at 20 weeks myself and just starting to look pregnant vs. chubby you can certainly color-me-jealous!

Recent events have called me to submit an application as a voluneteer photographer for this amazing nonprofit – Now I lay me down to sleep. As stated in their site:

Pregnancy: The state of being with child. [British Medical Dictionary] The beginning of a parent’s hopes and dreams. The anticipation of the pitter patter of tiny little feet. A family being born unto each other. No parent ever expects their dream to shatter. But sadly, sometimes this dream can turn into a nightmare.

Each year nearly 3.3 million babies are stillborn, and more than 4 million others die within 28 days of coming into the world. [World Health Organization] With advanced medical technology, it is a parents expectation that those born unto us will out live us. When a baby dies, it is outside the natural order of life and families are left devastated and forever changed.

So this gorgeous model i got to work with took s.t.u.n.n.i.n.g. photos. But my favorite part was post production and playing with the images. I love to offer my clients a range of natural (what the picture really looked like) and more theatrical (what the intended mood was). These sort of options are available for pin-up sessions and personal portrait sessions.

So then you get to decide ~ which is your favorite???

This was my second session with this cutie pie. And boy-oh-boy has she grown!!! My favorite part ~ the giggles. She is one happy baby. I don’t know why but my favorites of this session all tend to be black & white pictures. I think its just the intensity of those eyes combined with such soft and delicate skin that makes for such a good transformation. Nothing focuses an image more than black & white ~ which also makes the first photo one of my all time favorites.

Black & white photography was actually my ‘original trade’ and what i was trained in. Reminds me of alllllll those hours spent in the darkroom in college. Lost ~ i could litereally get lost in there for an entire day. It was awesome.

I had the pleasure of meeting this couple on one of the DREARIEST days this spring. No kidding ~ it was horrible. Thankfully they were great sports about it as we skirted in an out of doorways and overhangs. Even their pup came along for the ride. There’s always a blessing in disguise when things like this happen. For starters ~ I bet their wedding day will be beautiful. And we really did get some cool photos.
